Course Info

This description is presented to aid in understanding the course and facilitate pre-riding before all the course markings are in place.  Use it in conjunction with the map.  On race day the course will be well marked and critical intersections will be manned or womanned.  (not a word)

Experts will start at 11:00 at the pool parking lot.

Go up Shrewsberry Hollow road to the Middle Ridge Singletrack (Number 1).  Turn left.  This single track will crisscross Middle Ridge road (MRR) 4 times on the way to Ballard/Pole Cat trail.  The first intersection is not directly across the road.  Turn left on MRR and look for a right under the power line.  The next two are straight across.  The intersection at the top of Mossy Rock trail is not directly across the road either.  Turn right and look for a left on the other side of the saddle.  At the end of the next single track take a right and look for Ballard trail on the left.  Pole Cat is a left about 100 yards down Ballard (Number 1).  At the bottom of this raging downhill take a left on the road.  Take the next road to the left.  This is Middle Ridge road.

All other racers will start at 12:00 at the park entrance and turn right up Middle Ridge Road.

Follow MRR up to Teaberry Rock Trail.  At the bottom of Teaberry Rock take a left and go up Shrewsberry Hollow road.  Take a left up Mossy Rock trail (Number 2).  At the top take a left on MRR for about 100 yrds. And left again onto the Middle Ridge Singletrack.  At the end of this single track take a right and look for Ballard trail on the left (Number 2).  At the bottom of Ballard take a right onto Hoffman Hollow road.  Stay right at all intersections on the way up.  At the top take a right onto MRR.  Then take a left onto the Black Bear.  We will not be doing “Spectator Falls” in favor of the new longer extension.  However, there is a large rock garden above the old “Spectator Falls” where I’m sure many spills will be seen by those hardy enough to make the climb.  At the bottom cross the main forest road and go up Pigeon Roost trail.  At the top take a right on South Boundary road.  Take the next available right and then straight to get to Pine Ridge trail.  Take a right at the trail head.  Stay left at #1 Store Hollow and then turn left on Dunlop Trail.

At the bottom of Dunlop trail all beginners will turn right and head down to the ball field.  At the bottom stay left and follow the valley to Polly Trail.  Watch out for riders coming down Wildcat trail.  Turn onto Polly trail. (Skip to next paragraph)

Experts and Sport distance riders will turn left at the bottom of Dunlop trail and go up Dunlop Hollow Road.  The road will have a left and a right intersection that you do not want to take.  The road ends a gas well and continues as a single track to the top.  At the top turn right onto South Boundary road.  Then turn right onto Wildcat Ridge trail.  At the bottom of Wildcat turn left and the left again onto Polly Trail.

Follow Polly trail to the next right.  Drop down into Polly Hollow and take a right out to the main forest road.  Take a left on the road and look for Davis Creek trail on the right just past Copperhead Rock.  Take Davis Creek to the finish line.
